Govert Schilling was speaking at the Forum at the time
Large numbers of Groninger residents saw a ‘fireball’ in the sky above the city, last night, reports the GIC. Incredibly, the glowing streak in the sky passed over the city as the renowned Dutch science journalist Govert Schilling was giving a talk at the Forum on the very same subject.
Shortly after Schilling delivered the lecture, the ‘fireball’ could be seen, with Schilling himself pleased by the serendipity, who wrote on twitter.
Various residents in the city also saw the glowing streak. Other Dutch residents also reported seeing the phenomenon, which could have been a meteor or comet, a satellite breaking up in the earth’s atmosphere, or another near-earth object entirely!
