Regional safety authorities discourage fire activities

Local fire departments and the regional safety authorities are advising municipalities across the north to ban any events that will involve open flames.

Translation by Traci White

Camp fires, torch-lit demonstrations and grilling out have all been deemed too risky in light of the prolonged dry conditions in the region. The authorities are also concerned about the danger posed by fire pits, fireworks displays and pyrotechnics.

Grasslands and farmland are the areas most susceptible to catching fire. The Paterswoldsemeer has already put a burn ban into effect and Bourtagne has decided to at least move their cannon elsewhere for the weekend.
