Unfortunately, Tuesday is likely to be 10 degrees and drizzling
“Thousands of catering businesses in the Netherlands want to open their terraces on Tuesday – illegally”, says the hospitality industry representative group Koninklijke Horeca Nederland. Though opening the terraces is officially prohibited, 65 local chapters of the group have joined the call. As reported by the GIC.
According to many catering bosses, the cabinet’s decision to keep things closed for longer is no longer tenable, and whilst food and beverage outlets must remain closed due to the lockdown, the action group finds this rule nonsensical for the outdoor areas.
Naturally, Koninklijke Horeca Nederland has no epidemiological experience.
The Groningen department is not affiliated with the action group, but says it “fully” understands the call. “Enough is enough. Something has to happen. Many catering establishments are on the verge of collapse, both financially and mentally ”, says Irene van der Velde, chairman of the Groningen department of KHN.
