Rebel Rebel, a container hostel on the Sugar Terrain grounds, is celebrating being open for two years by organising a week of festivities and launching their own city map.

The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the hostel is also marking the occasion with expanding its facilities: in response to demand, Rebel Rebel will add room for ten more guests by this summer.
Between 9 and 17 February, Rebel Rebel will celebrate its second anniversary with a table shuffleboard tournament (sjoelen), a DIY evening and lip sync performances known as “playback” in Dutch.
The hostel will also be premiering its own tourist map for the city, featuring tips for the best restaurants, activities and sight-seeing spots in the city specially curated for their rebellious guests. Rebel Rebel was mentioned as a good place to stay for backpackers visiting Groningen, especially those seeking an “alt-city break”, by The Guardian.
The four themed rooms in the hostel cost between 23 euros and 60 euros a night, and the hostel offers a range of activities like yoga and game nights and also has its own on-site vegetable garden. The hostel organises events throughout the year for its guests and locals alike. Rebel Rebel, which is co-owned by Anika Postma and Anna Liefers, opened its doors in 2017 after 35,000 euros were quickly raised in a crowd funding campaign.
