The Groninger Internet Courant reports that a proposal by jimmy Dijk, a member of the Social Party faction in the Groningen city council, to host a public hearing on the housing situation in the city will be held on Wednesday.
The plans for the hearing were put forward back in September. The goal of the hearing is to get a better idea of the scope of the problem and try to come up with possible solutions. Representatives from the University of Groningen, the Hanze University of Applied Sciences and the municipal executive council will have an opportunity to speak during the meeting. Each party will have five minutes to explain their position and the challenges they face, after which members of the municipal commission for housing will have the opportunity to ask them questions.
Round table
After the hearing, Groningen mayor Peter den Oudsten will lead a round table discussion for those in attendance to speak directly with one another. The hearing will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and is open to the public, and will also be broadcast live online at groningen.raadsinformatie.nl/dashboard.
