There is no province in the Netherlands where the residents are as satisfied with their mail delivery as in Groningen
This, at least, seems to be the result of an “independent investigation” by PostNL. No less than 38 percent of Groningen respondents gave their delivery person a 9 or higher.
The Groningen delivery staff are doing better than in Overijssel (34% get a 9) and South Holland (26% get a 9). On average, mail deliverers in the Netherlands are assessed at an 8.
According to the research, “reliability” is the most important characteristic for the Dutch. Three-quarters of the Dutch attaches the greatest value to an honest mail delivery person, followed by friendliness (47%) and care (39%). “Sexy” or “muscular” appears to be the least important characteristic for a postal worker. Still, almost 1 in 10 deliverers meets this qualification, according to the study.
Young people mainly want a friendly and fast mail deliverer, while older people particularly appreciate an accurate mail deliverer. Marieke Schoon from PostNL said : “This is a special outcome in the time of individualisation. A chat with the mail deliverer is therefore still appreciated, especially by young people! ”
29 percent of people from Groningen have a chat with mail deliverers every day
Only 1 in 5 Dutch people see his mail deliverer every day and at least say hello or have a chat. That percentage is much higher in the 3 northern provinces. In Groningen, 29 percent of the inhabitants have personal contact with his mail deliverer almost daily.
