Drenthe wants to go green whilst protecting its greenery
The Provincial Council of Drenthe wants to keep the number of solar parks on the ground as small as possible. It is therefore better and more sensible to first install as many solar panels on the roofs of offices, houses and other buildings as possible.
A large majority in the Provincial States of Drenthe supported a motion by the political party VVD to take action quickly, reports RTV Drenthe.
VVD member Karin Zwaan said: “We must prevent initiators of large solar parks from choosing the easiest way and putting them on land. That is too great an attack on our landscape. The roofs are for energy, the ground is for food.”
