The Young Business Award (YBA) and Drenthe Startup 2020 prizes will be handed out in January
The province of Drenthe is supporting both the Young Business Award (YBA) and the Drenthe Start-up 2020 with a subsidy of 40,000 euros. The YBA is the largest start-up competition in the Netherlands and will be organized for the 6th time this year, with the final currently slated for Tuesday 5 January 2021 in the Atlas Theater in Emmen. The Drenthe Start-up 2020 will also be announced during the final.
Provincial Deputy Henk Brink said: “The YBA and certainly also the Drenthe Startup, are an important part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem for starters with growth ambitions. This ties in well with the ambition of our Ik Ben Drents Ondernemer program. The very best and fastest growing companies from the Netherlands come to Drenthe especially for the YBA. Especially in this special time, these kinds of meetings are more relevant than ever. Whether we meet in Emmen on January 5 depends on the measures surrounding COVID-19.” As reported by the Province of Drenthe.
YBA was founded a few years ago by young entrepreneurs from the Emmen region, to make Drenthe more attractive for innovative and scalable startups. As a foundation they want to stimulate the development and awareness of startups in Drenthe.
The province of Drenthe has embraced this initiative and has been a partner from the start. The concept of the YBA is a proven success and creates a strong start-up climate. For example, the YBA ensures annual registrations of new startups at the various locations of the OndernemersFabrieken in Drenthe.
The Drenthe Startup is a startup competition that originated as a spin-off from the YBA. The Drentse Startup competition was organised for the first time in 2017 with BMTec from Emmen as the winner. In 2018 Arvick from Hoogeveen was named as the winner.
