Health Hub Roden, located in the northern region of Drenthe, is quickly outgrowing its current accommodations. To that end, the municipality of Noordenveld and the province of Drenthe are looking to purchase the former Resato facilities in Roden to help the Health Hub continue growing.
Since opening in 2016, Health Hub Roden has experienced dramatic growth. The hub consists of 70 partner companies and knowledge institutions based in the Northern Netherlands. At least 20 new companies are interested in joining the hub, but their headquarters does not have enough space to bring in additional partners.
The Drenthe Provincial Executive council and the municipal council of Noordenveld are prioritising the health hub’s further development: both parties have agreed to allocate funds to purchase a larger facility on Energieweg. The new property would mean an additional 80 work places.
The costs involved in the purchase and necessary renovations are estimated around 3 million euros. On Wednesday, the Noordenveld municipal council agreed to contribute 600,000 euros. The Provincial Executive is expected to cover the remaining 2.4 million euros, and a formal decision on that will be made on 28 April.
If the new financing goes through, then the Provincial Executive and the municipality of Roden would serve as project developers and would rent the space to Health Hub Roden for at least five years.
