Several articles of clothing from police uniforms and a service weapon were stolen during three separate break-ins in the north.
Dagblad van het Noorden reports that the police have confirmed multiple break-ins at the homes of several officers last year. Two of the officers live in the province of Groningen.
The police had not previously made the incidents publicly known: the three break-ins came to light in documents obtained by the Leeuwarder Courant through a freedom of information request for a story about the national arrival of Sinterklaas in Dokkum in 2017.
The police do not believe the break-ins are connected, nor do they think that the officers were specifically targeted. The force suspects that the break-ins were random and that the thieves happened to stumble upon the uniforms and equipment.
