Police moved into the Noorderplantsoen in the city of Groningen yesterday afternoon to clear non-Covid safe crowds that had formed in the unseasonably warm weather. The action was taken following an order by Mayor Koen Schuiling.
“We have sent the people present away from the park,” the police reported in a twitter message. It is not clear how many people were in the park at the time, reports RTV Noord.
According to spokesperson Natascha van ‘t Hooft of the municipality of Groningen, the actions were somewhat low key: “‘eviction’ would be too big a word for the police action. People have been made aware of the measures that are still in force”, says Van ‘t Hooft. All this would also have taken place in an “extremely relaxed manner”.
