An event combining spoken word, poetry, and music will be hosted by literature organisation Noordword in Groningen in English on November 7th.
The Poetry Processing Party will combine different art forms with engaging conversations that organisers say won’t just be confined to the stage. The artists will be incorporating the evening’s central question: “Would you still walk through a door with me if you knew what I really thought?”
NOORDWOORD, the literary organisation of Groningen known for organising festivals like the Poetry Festival Dichters in de Prinsentuin (poets in the Prinsentuin), and literature festival Het Grote Gebeuren, will be organising the event together with The Stage, a platform for spoken word, and Noordstaat, a place where up-and-coming artists can accelerate and grow their talent.
The night will be hosted by Romano Liu known from Spaces Art Collective, aiming to connect poetry with other disciplines in a fresh way. There will be performances from local Groningen talent like Plastic Psyche, an alternative hip-hop group that expresses itself through art installations and universally poetic questions, Y.M.P (Young Mich Poetry), a word artist raised on hip-hop influences using spoken word and music to tell his life story, and Shishani, who transcends genres and cultures combining art and research while advocating for equal rights of Indigenous peoples, LGBTQI+ community, and climate justice, among many others.
To close the evening there will be a poetic house set by DJs Coco Coquelicot and Geert Jan from Relate Radio, a community-driven online radio station from Groningen that also serves as a cultural platform for anyone who wants to develop and experiment with their musical interests.
Tickets for the event are €15 (€6 for students or €2,50 with a stadjerspas), and can be bought here. The night will start at 20:30 on the 7th of November and will be hosted in Simplon.
