The Dutch government is considering bringing in a curfew
Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge will give a press conference again tonight at 19:00; where it is expected that they will extended the current lockdown by three weeks. As reported by the GIC, the RTL Network has been told by those familiar ‘Hague sources’ that there is also talk of setting a curfew, but it is not expected that any announcements will be made about this tonight.
Apparently the curfew idea has met resistance from mayors and government factions. Due to the resistance, it is uncertain whether the cabinet will actually announce the introduction of the curfew this evening.
In the draft plans, the cabinet is considering introducing a curfew from early next week that would be put in place for (likely) 23:00 or 00:00. One of the reasons for setting the curfew includes the arrival of the highly contagious British variant of the Coronavirus.
