“People no longer dare to go out on the street during certain hours of the day,” local councillor Yaneth Menger (Stadspartij 100% voor Groningen) said following a spate of violent incidents in Groningen.
OOGTV reported that Menger said several people were coming up to her to ask what’s going on in Groningen given the reports of serious incidents of violence in the city.

They are also in favour of more security cameras in the inner city as well as more neighbourhood watch groups. They also would like to see more educational programmes for youth to make them aware of the danger of carrying knives and guns.
