After two weeks of maintenance and an elaborate prank, the iconic Peerd van Ome Loeks statue will return to its spot in front of the Groningen Central Station.

Wagenborg Nedlift, the crane company that helped remove the statue in September, says that the horse and man will be back in their rightful place on Tuesday. The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the statue was taken away for maintenance in the dead of night on the 24th of September, but the statue’s unannounced disappearance was cause for concern and speculation.
The municipality played along with the prank, claiming to be unaware of the statue’s whereabouts when the disappearance was discovered. A collective called Wadden uit de Schaduw took advantage of the confusion surrounding the statue’s removal, placing a replica of Het Peerd van Ome Loeks on the sea wall in Lauwersoog.
