Buying a ticket with cash will soon be a thing of the past on Qbuzz busses.
The transport company intends to phase out cash payments over the course of 2018. According to Dagblad van het Noorden, passengers on the Qbuzz blue line (3, 4 and the night bus lines) will no longer be able to buy a bus ticket with cash as of June. The remaining Q-link lines (except for Qbuzz orange) and city busses from Emmen will follow suit this fall.
The busses are in the process of adding payment terminals. A lack of cash on board is expected to keep the bus drivers safer since they will be less likely to be targeted for theft.
Euro tickets and day tickets will still be available for purchase from the bus drivers, but passengers will have to pay with a card. The bus company is encouraging passengers to travel with OV travel cards.
