Paques, a wasterwater and gas treatment company in the Frisian town of Balk, won the title of Frisian Business of the Year 2018 on Tuesday night.
Six businesses were nominated and three finalists were chosen: Paques, Sidijk (a leisure sport company in Heerenveen) and Spits (a prescription medication packaging company Oosterwolde). Paques won the title during a ceremony at Neushoorn in Leeuwarden.
According to Omrop Fryslân, Paques represents an important link in the water infrastructure and water treatment chain. The jury – and the audience – unanimously chose Paques due to their emphasis on innovation: the company’s products and services help industries reduce water use and utilise compost bio-energy.
Paques also won the title in 1990: “My father said to me: ‘Good luck, I’ve won it once.’ And now I can say to him, ‘Thanks, so have I’”, Joost Paques told Omrop Fryslân.
In addition to the Netherlands, Paques has facilities in Brazil, China, Indiai, Malaysia and the United States.
