The bike path along the ring road between the Hereweg and De Papiermolen swimming pool in the city of Groningen will be closed for good as of Wednesday, 5 June.

The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the bike path is being closed off due to construction of a temporary exit ramp from the ring road to the Hereweg as part of ongoing road works.
As of Wednesday, cyclists will be redirect to the bike path on the other side of the highway, which is parallel to the Zuiderbegraafplaats cemetery.
Combinatie Herepoort, the group carrying out the road works, will be installing sheet piling where the bike path used to be over the summer, and then a temporary ramp to the Hereweg will be put into place. The ramp will be accessible for traffic after the summer holidays.
The bike path connects to the cycling tunnel between the Rivierenbuurt and the recently renovated and reopened outdoor swimming pool, De Papiermolen. Cyclists who are biking through the tunnel will be able to access the pool via the parking lot in the coming weeks.
