One new death has also been recorded by the RIVM
In the province of Groningen, 107 positive corona tests were added on Saturday, and 156 on Sunday, according to the Dutch government’s Coronavirus dashboard. The Corona dashboard also recorded two new hospital admissions and one death.
A large portion of the new infections took place in the municipality (in and around the city) of Groningen, reports the GIC.
Nearly 2,000 infections have now been registered in and around the city of Groningen, whilst around 3,000 positive tests have been recorded across the Province. The number of hospital admissions in the province has increased by two. On Saturday, the number of deaths from the virus rose by one to 22.
Separately, Schiermonnikoog is now only municipality in the Netherlands without infections (of 355 municipalities).
In Drenthe, 220 positive tests were recorded on Sunday, whilst Friesland saw 179 positive results.
In the Netherlands as a whole, the figures now stand at more than 168,000 Coronavirus infections since the start of the year. At the current pace, the 200,000 will be hit in the course of next week, which would mean that about 100,000 positive tests were added in a month.
It took seven months for the first 100,000 infections to be detected.
