The kiosk on Zaagmuldersweg is up for lease, with the city of Groningen happy to work with potential tenants on their vision for the space. The structure is located right next to two brand new buildings, one of which will house a Michi-Noeki, a Groningen version of the famed Japanese ‘Michi no Eki Miki’ roadside rest stops.
It’s a blank canvas now, Alderman Carine Bloemhoff says. “We’re open to anything, but the final decision will be made in consultation with the local community,” she stresses.
Initially, there was an interest in the site from the tobacco shop Knollema but the contract was never signed, despite the kiosk’s excellent location. The space is now ready for (re-)letting, with the council launching a sort of tender for the best tenant and rent payer.
The municipality says it is open to discussing what the future tenancy will be, emphasizing, however, that there must be a hospitality component to the business.
The site measures 49.3 m2 of building area, with an annual rental of €12,242 (excl. VAT) and a long-term lease available.
