There are also only seven patients suffering from severe Coronavirus complications in Groningen’s hospitals
The number of new infections of the Coronavirus in the municipality of Groningen continues to fall, with just four new infections confirmed on Tuesday. There were 14 infections across the province. Hospital occupancy also continues to fall: on Tuesday there were seven Coronavirus patients being cared for in Groningen hospitals.
New infection figures have been moving positively (ie. down) from June 8, when fourteen new infections were confirmed. Since then, with the exception of June 11 (11 infections), the figures have already been below ten confirmed cases per day. Figures overall have almost halved compared to last week, reports the GIC.
Groningen hospital figures
The falling infection figures are also clearly reflected in the numbers of hospital admissions. On Tuesday 15 June there were only five patients suffering from the Coronavirus in an IC bed in Groningen. That is two less than a week earlier. The number of patients in normal COVID wards fell from ten to just two in a week.
National infection rates
Across the Netherlands , 1,062 new infections were confirmed on Tuesday, 381 fewer than a week earlier. A week before that, there were still around 2,400 positive cases, dialy. The seven-day average has also fallen again to 1,283 cases per day.
National hospital figures
Hospital occupancy across the country fell from 681 to 645. Of these, 250 patients are still in the ICU, which is thirteen fewer than the day before.
Vaccinations
The decreasing numbers are partly caused by the increasing vaccination coverage, with over 85 percent of the Dutch population saying they would get vaccinated. On Wednesday it was announced that people born in 1997 can also make an appointment for a vaccination.
