The GGD has confirmed that eight people have died

Over the Easter weekend, the number of infections in the province of Groningen rose from 260 to 284. Menaing that 24 patients have been added since Friday. The number of hospital admissions of residents of the province rose from 58 to 65 at that time, reports the GIC.

Pressure on hospitals in Groningen is slightly decreasing

The number of occupied hospital beds in the province of Groningen decreased this weekend. On Monday, 53 patients were in intensive care and 61 in the regular nursing wards for Coronavirus patients. Last Saturday 62 patients were in the ICU and 64 patients in the special nursing wards.

Nationally, growth figures have also declined in recent days in The Netherlands, although it should be noted that there is often a delay in the passing on of numbers of patients, and especially the number of deaths during the weekend.

National figures

The number of infections rose by 3,454 to 26,551 in total between Friday and Monday. The number of hospital admissions rose by 532 to 8,729 in three days. There were also 312 deaths in three days. The counter of patients who died from the virus is now at 2,823. This includes people who have been tested for the virus. The actual death toll is probably higher, as are the number of infections.

Pressure on ICs in the country continues to decline slightly: there are currently 1,338 corona patients in intensive care from all over the country. The figure stood at 1,384 on Friday. The gradual decline is stable and that is encouraging, according to the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).
