A pre-planned route, special menus, and even a quiz- what better way to celebrate the long weekend
By Thomas Ansell
The ‘Culinary 4 Mile’ is hitting Groningen this weekend, two months after the first attempt at holding the event was shut down by the gemeente for Coronavirus-safety reasons. It’s a simple enough concept, you sign up online, receive a route card through the city of Groningen, and stop off at several pre-planned bars on the way!
Each bar has a special menu on offer, with unique dishes and drinks (at a ‘lower price’, too). Each bar will also have a quiz question associated, with as yet unannounced prizes for the winning quizzers.
The walking, eating, and drinking route is a play on the ‘4 miles’ event held in Groningen each October, which is one of the largest public running events (a mini-marathon of sorts) in the Netherlands. The slightly more relaxed experience is available in Groningen both this weekend, and next; upon signing up, participants must select a time-slot (12:00 or 14:30) to begin their experience.
Wanna get involved? The ‘Culinary 4 mile’ costs 4 euros to attend, with tickets available here.
