There were 31 recorded infections in the Province in the last week, down from 50 the week before
The number of new Coronavirus infections in the province of Groningen has decreased significantly in the past week. According to the GGD, the number of infections rose by 31 (to 610) between August 26 and September 1. A week earlier, the number of infections rose by 50.
According to the GGD, half of the number of infected people in Groningen are between 18 and 30 years old. Three people with a confirmed infection in the past week were under 18. More than 40 percent of new infections had a (suspected) source of infection in another country, as people return from their summer holidays, reports the GIC.
According to the GGD, the downward trend of the past two weeks is also continuing. Sixty infections were added between 5 and 11 August. Since then, the number of new infections has decreased again.
Between August 26 and September 1, 4,600 people from Groningen had themselves tested at a test location. Seventeen of those turned out to be positive (0.4 percent). The number of tests increased slightly: a week earlier, 4,525 people from Groningen were tested.
The number of deceased patients (19) has not changed this week.
