As reported by the Dagblad van het Norden, the Coronavirus outbreak at the Navigators Student Association in the city of Groningen has now resulted in 29 positive Coronavirus tests. The organisation announced the news today, saying that one group of its members are asymptomatic, whilst the other has only mild symptoms. The original source of the infection is unknown.
Also reported by the Dagblad van het Norden, seven students at the UMCG’s dental department have been diagnosed with Coronavirus. It is not clear if this group is related to the outbreak at the Navigators, however six students from the dentistry course, and one from the oral hygiene course have testes positive for the virus.
The UMCG’s own infection prevention unit is now beginning contact tracing, and it is thought that the students have not passed on the infection to anyone at the UMCG. All students and staff at the centre for Dentistry and Oral Hygiene have been asked to take tests, whilst those with positive tests are isolating at home.
