The number of new first year students at the University of Groningen’s Campus Fryslân has doubled, compared to last year- but the total of 83 is still modest

Campus Fryslân is considered a faculty of the University, and the faculty let it be known that they expect to keep moving towards their ambitious targets. When the faculty was launched, so says the Leeuwarder Courant, this was for a total of 600 bachelor students and 400 master’s students.
Now that the Campus is in its second year, it has completed its move to a completely new building: ‘de Beurs’. This will mean that international recognition for its work and teaching will soon follow, predicts RuG spokesperson Engelien Rietsma.
The courses in Leeuwarden are followed by students from a huge range of geographical locations. For the course Global Responsibility and Leadership from the University College, this year, there were 53 new students (up from 27 the previous year). Of these, 29 are Dutch (with ten Frisians), 22 from the European Union; and two from outside of the EU.
Another course, Sustainable Entrepreneurship, now has 30 new students (previous year 16). From these, 12 are Dutch, 14 come from other EU countries, and four are from outside of the EU. In total, the campus provides places for around 170 students. Next to them, the faculty has also recently taken in 25 PhD students.
