The Norwegian ambassador to the Netherlands visited Groningen for the annual Wind Meets Gas conference in October, the embassy said.
The conference, organised every year by the New Energy Coalition, focuses on hydrogen and offshore energy and brings together industry, government, and academia from both the Netherlands and other countries to discuss opportunities and challenges in the field of energy transition.
On LinkedIn, the embassy said that the Norwegian ambassador, Erling Rimesta, was accompanied by a large delegation of Norwegian companies and municipalities as well as the ambassadors of Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Together they hosted a session examining the key elements essential for driving the hydrogen economy forward, which included speakers from Nordic hydrogen companies and the Nordic Investment Bank.
As this year’s topic was the role of Nordic countries in the future of hydrogen, the Nordic ambassadors all met on stage to receive a report on the progress of Nordic countries and their advancement in their own hydrogen ambitions.
Norwegian Hydrogen shared insights on their last project in this field and how it is evolving, like their last opening of a Hydrogen Hub. Discussions included key factors essential for making these projects bankable, the importance of securing partnerships with stakeholders, community support, and demonstrating technical feasibility as well as market demand.
