The Chamber Orchestra of the North is set to play a series of concerts that delve into the horrors of wars and the suffering of their victims, starting in the first week of May. The concerts will spotlight music and musicians from Ukraine.
The Kamerorkest van het Noorden, or the Chamber Orchestra of the North, is a young and international string orchestra from the Northern area of the Netherlands. Their upcoming project, “Drop after Drop”, will lead audiences to reflect upon the hardships of war through music.
The performances will showcase pieces from three generations of Ukrainian composers, namely Valentin Silvestrov, Sviatoslav Lunyov, and Maxim Shalygin. The string orchestra has also invited Ukrainian musicians to join them for parts of the performances.
The series of commemorative concerts will take place on May 2nd in Roden, on May 3rd in Zutphen, and on May 4th in Groningen. Tickets can already be bought online here.
Three additional concert dates have been announced for September in Amsterdam, Den Bosch and The Hague. More details can be found here.
