Frozen lakes come but once a decade!
Skating fever is really getting a grip on Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe; with temperatures yesterday evening plummeting towards -15 in some places. Accordingly, several natural ice rinks have opened throughout the three Northern Provinces.
In connection with Coronavirus regulations, boards at most skating clubs have decided that they only open to members, in order to avoid too much crowding and queuing, but some have set time slots for free skating. The GIC has put together a map of those open in Groningen, the Omrop Fryslân has put together a map of rinks open in Friesland; and RTV Drenthe has put together one for Drenthe (although most Drents rinks are member-only with the exception of Westerwelde if there is space on the ice).
