Noorderzon will take over the Noorderplantsoen between 12 and 22 August
The Noorderzon theatre and performing arts festival will take place in Groningen in August, reports the GIC. The cultural festival is the centrepiece of Groningen’s cultural calendar, and is a 10-day spectacular where stadjers can enjoy theater, music and performing arts across various temporary stages in the Noorderplantsoen park.
The annual festival will go ahead this year, despite the Coronavirus pandemic: “due to the higher vaccination rate and the emergence of rapid tests, more and more seems to be possible after June”, say festival organisers.
It is not yet clear what the festival will look like, “but that a smaller, safe, responsible and yet maximally recognisable Noorderzon Festival will take place at the end of the summer holidays, is clear.” The festival organisers will take into account the various measures that may still apply in August, and therefore has various scenarios prepared.
The full programme is also not yet known, but the Australian circus company Circa will come with its show Bounce!, “a fantastic circus performance in a beautiful tent designed by famous architects”.
