RTV Noord reports that rail replacement buses will be running between Groningen and Buitenpost, which is roughly the midway point between Groningen and Leeuwarden. There will not be any express trains travelling between Buitenpost and Leeuwarden during the rail works, which means that the journey will likely take up to 45 minutes longer than usual.
The section of tracks that will be the focus of this weekend’s rail works is near Zuidhorn and between Hoogkerk and the city of Groningen, The Hoendiep rail crossing was closed this week in connection to the planned works, and the Peizerweg crossing will also be closed over the weekend with a posted traffic detour.
