The weeks of isolation may be starting to work
There were no new confirmed Coronavirus infections in Groningen for the third day in a row, reports the GIC. Unfortunately, though, one more person has died from the virus, confirmed GGD Groningen. In Friesland, the GGD says that there have been four more confirmed infections, though five people have been released from hospital. RTV Drenthe highlights that there are now fewer people in Intensive Care in the province.
The number of fatalities in Groningen now totals 14, whilst the number of infections has stuck at 333 for a few days, says the GIC and GGD.
Testing continues in the meantime. The GGD emphasizes that the actual number of infections in our province is higher because not all residents are tested with complaints. However, all people from the healthcare sector with complaints are tested.
The falling figures will look like good news for the Dutch government- though it should be noted that the Coronavirus hotspots have never been in the Northern Netherlands. As can be seen in the RIVM’s up-to-date infection spread map, areas of concern for public health officials include Noord-Brabant, and Limburg. The regulations around social distancing in The Netherlands remain in place.
