The two-year test period has been successful
A test for a night train from Groningen via Assen to Amsterdam that has been running for the past two years has been successful, reports RTV Drenthe. It has now been decided that the night train will run for at least the next two years.
After this period, NS will check again whether there are still enough people using the train.
The train departs from Rotterdam in the middle of the night between Friday to Saturday at 0.05 a.m. and arrives in Groningen just before 3 a.m. In Drenthe the train stops at all intermediate stations. The provinces of Drenthe and Groningen are providing financial contributions to the night train.
A test with a night train from Groningen to Amsterdam was less successful and will not be continued.
