German national holiday
The Tag der Deutschen Einheit is the day which Germans celebrate the anniversary of German reunification and most have the day off. An excellent opportunity to visit Groningen!
Many markets
The Groninger Marktendag can be found on the Grote Markt, between both markets and on the Vismarkt. It is a collection of successful Groninger Markets including a commodities market, vintage and handmade products market, stand workers, a fish square, and a market with products from Groningen soil and the provincial square. During the markets there is music, food, drinks and a children’s program from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Province square
New on Groninger Marktendag is the provincial square on the Grote Markt where all seven regions of the province present themselves. The regions are represented by, among others, a number of entrepreneurs from the region concerned and they introduce visitors to all kinds of delicacies, tastings and activities from the province.
