Following new regulations, the numbers of positive tests seems to have fallen by half
The number of Coronavirus infections seems to be decreasing in the province and city of Groningen, according to the figures from the RIVM. As reported by the GIC.
On October 18, 229 new infections were registered in the province of Groningen, while the number of new positive tests on October 25 was only 92. In the same week, the number of positive tests in the municipality of Groningen fell from 92 (October 18) to 36 (October 25).
On October 18, the infections showed a significant peak. If October 17 and 19 are included there wa average of 176 new infections per day.
Groningen is therefore no longer one of the Coronavirus hotspots in the Netherlands. For weeks, the municipality of Groningen sat near the top of the list of municipalities with the most infections. Initially, many young people in particular were tested positive. More elderly people are now becoming infected, but the numbers are decreasing.
Groningen therefore also distinguishes itself from the national figures with this new update. National figures have risen sharply in the past week. On Friday, more than 10,000 positive tests were registered. Saturday and Sunday, an average of 9,440 infections per day was added.
Cases seem to be falling in Friesland, too, though Drenthe looks to be being buffeted by a second wave.
