The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the source of the large power outage is likely a transformed at De Hunze which went offline earlier on Wednesday morning. According to electricity company TenneT, the outage should be resolved fairly quickly: the company is currently trying to bring another transformer online.
People nearby the Euroborg in the south of the city of Groningen reported hearing a loud bang on Wednesday morning before the power went out in the area. Reports of power outages have come in from Haren, Meerstad, Groningen, Ten Boer, Ten Post, Bedum, Zuidwolde, Thesinge, Overschild, Onnen, Garmerwolde and Glimmen. RTV Noord reports that TenneT is hoping to have the situation fixed by 11 a.m.
