In recognition of the Groningen Christian student association The Navigators turning 25 this year, the group will be hosting a giant dinner party for 750 people on the Vismarkt on the 6th of May.
Translation by Thomas Ansell
As reported in Sikkom, the student society will transform the Vismarkt in the centre of Groningen into a giant outdoor dining area starting at 5 p.m. on 6 May. Five restaurants around the city have been enlisted for their services for the evening: Cantina Mexicana, Pizzeria Italia, Capricio, Louis XV, and El Txoko.
The head of organising the dinner, Laura Polman, told Sikkom that the Crhistian student association sees their anniversary as a good opportunity to bring together diverse groups: “student and stadjer, people with limited income and high ranking local officials.”
Polman says that the event will feature a number of beer tables and market stalls where the food will be served. In addition to their own members, the group is extending an invitation to the rest of city to join them for dinner. The student association has reached out to the local food bank, the Salvation Army, and Groningen Verwelkomt, an organisation which was founded to support refugees living in the city.
Sign up for the event is available online at the Navigator’s website.
