With just one week to go to the municipal elections, there is still some time for residents of Drenthe to make up their minds about who to vote for.
A helpful hand comes from RTV Drenthe with Drenthe Kiest, a series of debates from February 28th to March 15th. Every debate features party leaders for each of the twelve Drenthe municipalities.
In addition, residents of Meppel can make use of Kieskompas to figure out which party they are closest to, while voters in Emmen can use similar online tool Stemwijzer.
A total of 34 political parties registered candidates for the March 16th elections, reports RTV Drenthe. Only big national parties VVD, CDA and PvdA will present candidates for each municipality.
This year, compared to the previous elections in 2018, there will be six brand new parties: Assen Central in Assen, STIP and Vital Emmen in Emmen, Hart voor Vrijheid and Tynaarlo Nu in Tynaarlo, and controversial far-right party Forum for Democracy in Emmen and Hoogeveen.
