Much-loved Hoogkerk Pool reopens

July 10, 2023
in Groningen, News
Home Groningen

Hoogkerk’s much-loved cold water pool reopened this weekend following the completion of necessary repairs. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, the historic facility was closed in 2021 due to COVID restrictions and staffing issues.

The pool, which also experienced a crack, has undergone meticulous restoration, and all required safety checks, including water and chemical assessments, have been successfully completed.

The swimming pool in Hoogkerk was built in 1935. There used to be another pool at the location, and rumor has it that the old pool, which may have been just a spring bath, is still under the new one. The Hoogkerk pool’s board has plans to raise funds for an investigation to determine if the source under the bath still exists.
