Silently zooming through the city
The street scene of Groningen is changing rapidly, with more and more rent-by-the minute scooters from two companies: GO Sharing and Felyx. The electric scooters should boost sustainable transport in Groningen.
The municipality of Groningen is pleased with the arrival of the sustainable scooters, whilst Groningen Bereikbaar; the organisation that promotes alternative forms of transport, also applauds the arrival of e-scooters, according to RTV Noord.
“The palette of sustainable choices is only growing. To move a few kilometers in the city is a great alternative. We see that there is a lot of interest in e-bikes, so here too”, says Groningen Bereikbaar.
After booking via an app, a ride with Felyx costs 30 cents per minute. When you arrive at the destination, there are two options: keep the scooter ‘active’ at 5 cents per minute, or ‘deactivated’: making the scooter available to someone else. The scooters are insured for personal indemnity with a deductible of 500 euros.
The price at GO Sharing is 23 cents per minute plus a penny per minute for parking. And for another 5 cents per minute, a customer can pay off their deductible in case of damage. There are already options to purchase a subscription to be able to scooter 24 hours a day.
