An unusual record attempt took place on Friday on Groningen’s Vismarkt for the longest sustainable catwalk in the world.
The catwalk followed a route of 7 km from the centre of Haren to the Vismarkt along which models only wore secondhand clothing. OOGTV reported that the record attempt failed as the models did not use an actual catwalk but instead used the pavement. The current world record for the longest catwalk is 2km.
The fashion show is part of the collective ‘Groningen waste-free’, an initiative run by the Municipality that wants to bring sustainability to people’s attention and fights for a waste-free future. A total of 15 local second-hand shops are participating in the show.
The initiative is organising activities every second Friday of the month themed around a sustainable and waste-free society.
