Maybe he’ll write a letter
Famous letter writer and Groninger Mayor Koen Schuiling is concerned about the increased number of people in Groningen’s city center. He has called on people that want to do Sinterklaas or Christmas shopping not to do this en masse during the weekend, but to choose to visit the Herestraat on a weekday, for example. As reported by RTV Noord.
Schuiling says that it was already quite busy in the city center last Sunday, to the extent that
shoppers were asked through digital information screens to come back at a quieter time.
Mayor Koen Schuiling is now worried about both Black Friday, and the various holidays that are just around the corner.
He also does not discourage people from coming to Groningen. But he does point out that it is best to spread visits, and to visit the Herestraat on a weekday. People should also not consider shopping as an outing for the whole family, but come to the city individually as much as possible.
