As of Monday, Make it in the North is live: a new online platform for finding jobs, staff, research, business opportunities, companies, news, and cultural events in the Northern Netherlands.
The first and only of its kind in the Northern Netherlands, Make it in the North is a collaborative effort among Northern Dutch businesses, local governments, and public institutions. It is the result of listening to both businesses and International people in the North.
With ever greater technological leaps and an increasingly global market, it can be hard for companies in the north to find the right highly-skilled talent: businesses are increasingly casting their eyes abroad and seeking out foreign staff. For internationals who would like to stay in one of the happiest places in Europe, the portal offers a unique opportunity to find jobs that suit their skills, as well as learning more about the business ecosystem of the North.
What sets the platform apart from similar job portals is that it brings employers seeking foreign talent and would-be employees with an international background together. Companies are invited to claim their spot and populate their very own company profile on the portal, and the site will also feature vacancies at internationally-oriented businesses.
In addition to the job portal, users of Make it in the North will find all kinds of information about the Northern Netherlands on the new platform, from information about the most successful economic sectors to a live map of all international companies and a calendar of upcoming career events. Make it in the North will also be organising its own career events in the near future.
Two other initiatives under the broader Make it in the North project umbrella that you may be familiar with have been live for some time: The Northern Times and Here & Now, the one-stop cultural spot for all things culture, from techno events to theatre productions, in the North.
Econ 050
What kinds of companies are involved with Make it in the North? What will it really mean for internationals living in the region and looking to advance their careers? On the 11th of July, The Northern Times will be dropping a new episode of Econ 050 where we sit down with IWCN’s Michiel Kasteleijn and MetaalUnie’s Philippe Hondelink to hear about what the platform has to offer for job seekers and job creators in the north. |
