Starting on Tuesday, the Dutch Ministry of Waterways will begin maintenance operations at the ferry terminal on the Frisian Wadden island of Schiermonnikoog.
The Leeuwarder Courant reports that operations will include repairing damaged concrete, adding tactile painting for the visually impaired and a new low railing. The work operations are not expected to cause any significant disruption.
More works will be carried out in the docking area of the island over ten days in June. That round of repairs will see the pontoon and pedestrian bridge at the harbour being replaced, and passengers will have to embark and disembark on the automobile bridge.
