“Be inspired, surprised and motivated to shop locally.”
Translated by Adriana Dancu
The online department store for Groningen, Warenhuis Groningen, is growing and now has more than 200 entrepreneurs that are displaying their wares digitally. The website lets people choose to buy locally, without going into the sometimes-crowded city. Added to this, delivery is not only free, but also sustainable. So everyone’s happy, reports the GIC.
In a year’s time, Warenhuis Groningen has grown into a complete department store with about 37,000 products from more than 200 local entrepreneurs. Last year the idea arose to make local entrepreneurs and their products more visible online, and the Coronavirus pandemic has only underlined the founder’s thinking. Why keep buying from major online players when you can do it easily and around the corner? By shopping consciously and locally you support local entrepreneurs. If orders are made by 15:00 then there’s even same-day delivery!
Cooperation
Warenhuis Groningen is an initiative of the Groningen City Club (GCC), which works together with other Groningen-based companies such as Zupr and Dropper. Zupr makes local products available online, whilst Dropper is a sustainable delivery service that delivers local products quickly, easily and for free in Groningen, Ten Boer and Haren. The Warenhuis Groningen is made possible in part by the municipality of Groningen, the Ondernemersfonds Groningen and of course the local retailers.
Support local shops and offer your loved ones great presents. If you think that there is nothing better than spending the Christmas holidays than with a good book, and a cup of hot coffee, check out this article about online shopping for books, and this article about supporting local coffee shops about buying great coffee.
