The idea behind LF2018’s airport take over was to show off what Leeuwarden has to offer during its years as one of Europe’s Capitals of Culture.
Jort Klarenbeek, who is responsible for international marketing for the Capital of Culture year, says it was mission accomplished: “There were some passengers arriving here on vacation and they asked us how far it was to drive to Leeuwarden. They said they wanted to try and see if they could squeeze in a visit while they’re here.”
According to the Leeuwarder Courant, many people at the airport were particularly interested in hearing more about activities taking place over the summer in the province. “If they are still trying to decide what to do this summer, at least they know what there is to do in Friesland.”
