Ice-cold Scandinavian air is likely to cause temperatures to plummet
The weather website weer.nl has written that it expects a “legendary frost raid on the way”. “It seems that we will be starting a possibly legendary frost attack from next weekend. Ice-cold air from Scandinavia approaches our environment from the east, but the soft air with us does not just give up. What follows is a battle that may last for days and can degenerate into buckets of snow, but especially to the south of the major rivers also icy rain, sleet or just rain. This can cause serious inconvenience for a long time.”
“The incidence of cold, which is now becoming increasingly clear in all model calculations, has been visible on the horizon for days and is getting closer and closer. Very slowly we also see a clearer picture emerging of what needs to be done in the various model calculations. There is still a lot of uncertainty. Expectations may change in the coming days.”
Temperature to plunge on Saturday night
“The winter border enters the northeast of the country during the night to Saturday. In Groningen the temperature drops below zero around midnight. Some snow can also fall there immediately. At the beginning of the morning the frost line has reached over the center of the country. After that, the winter border continues a little further to the south, but will probably come to a halt somewhere above Brabant and Limburg, to remain there for a longer period of time.”
