The four largest cities in the Northern Netherlands are setting up the conference with the EU
The decision by the Dutch government to stop extracting natural gas from the Groningen gas field will have major economic implications for the Northern Netherlands. To tackle these challenges, the four largest Northern cities have started a research project with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC).
The main goal of this is to develop a concrete Action Roadmap that will prepare the Northern economy and labour market for the upcoming energy transition. In cooperation with the European Commission they are organising a working conference on the 3rd and 4th of December at the Stadsschouwburg de Harmonie in Leeuwarden.
Experts from regions that have experienced similar economic transitions will hope to inspire the visitors with lessons from their own localities.
Those wishing to register for the event are requested to send an e-mail to ewout.oppers@leeuwarden.nl
