The Leeuwarder Courant reports that the courthouse in the city was evacuated on Tuesday morning due to a possible gas leak.

There was a strong odour of gas on the first floor of the building detected on Tuesday morning. Liander’s technicians have fixed the problem and visitors are now allowed back inside the courthouse.

A section of Zaailand was cordoned off. Those who were inside the courthouse are currently waiting outside until the all clear signal has been given. The potential gas leak was due to digging going on between the courthouse and De Casseres Advocaten. Technicians from grid operator Liander are responding to the potential leak.
