After this round of second shots is complete, the GGD Drenthe will begin scaling-down its campaign
The public health organisation the GGD Drenthe will soon shorten its opening hours at the four vaccination and test locations in the province of Drenthe.
The past few months have been busy for the GGD’s staff: half a million people in Drenthe have been vaccinated since last week at one of the vaccination centers in Assen, Emmen, Hoogeveen and Meppel.
“We are currently largely taking second shots. The number of injections per week is therefore decreasing sharply,” says Marjon Feenstra, manager of infection control COVID-19.
“From the second week of August this is very noticeable. We adjust the opening days of the vaccination centers to this,” she says. As reported by RTV Drenthe.
“We will put some locations in a kind of hibernation mode from September. We will continue to vaccinate in Assen and Emmen, only during the week and no longer at the weekends,” Feenstra continues. If more vaccinations or tests are required, the GGD can quickly scale up again. “This way we remain prepared for any major events. Later in the year, when more is known about the national medium-term vaccination strategy, we will look at how we proceed.”
